IT infrastructure in APPM
 
A Centralized Data Center has been installed in APPM unit at Rajahmundry with Four IBM P-series servers with AIX operating System. MySAP ECC 5.0 and ORACLE database is providing 24X7 service to all users in the company. Connectivity in different locations in APPM is provided through 2 Mbps Leased Lines, VPN and ISDN/PSTN using the service providers like BSNL, HCL etc. Firewalls and other security software have been installed for maintaining strict security in the network. IT infrastructure is monitored and supported by a dedicated in-house IT team in areas like Hardware, Networking, Software development and systems administration.
 
Recent Developments
 
To support its complex business with ease, APPM has decided to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) and has acquired one of the most advanced and superior ERP package - mySAP. Based on priorities related to the business, the implementation of SAP has been phased in 3 stages. Implementation of the first phase was completed in a record time of 6 months and “GO LIVE” was achieved as per schedule on 1st July 2006.The modules covered in the first phase of implementation were Material Management, Sales & Distribution, Production Planning , Quality Management and Finance & Costing. These were implemented throughout the company in Two Manufacturing units, One Conversion unit, Seven Sales offices and Three Forest divisions. During implementation Value SAP methodology was adopted with a suite of Project Monitoring Tool, Quality Audit Tool and Change Management Tool

Recently, APPM has implemented an “Online Web enabled Dealer Portal’ which is integrated with mySAP ERP. This shall enable dealers to process orders, track dispatches online etc., resulting in reduced cycle time.

Going forward, as many manufacturers will be able to meet most product quality requirements, service shall be the unique selling point. The Dealer Portal will help us enhance our service levels substantially and provide us competitive edge in the market. 
 
Future Plans

In next phase, APPM is planning to implement HR, Plant Maintenance and Business Intelligence modules of mySAP to make the Information system of APPM more effective and comprehensive.
