Forest Stewardship Council®
Andhra Paper, one of the largest manufacturers of Pulp and Paper in India, has been awarded the coveted Forest
Stewardship Council’s® (FSC®), Chain-of-Custody Certificate during the year
2010, for its responsible fiber sourcing for manufacture of pulp and paper.
This is yet another milestone for the Andhra Paper Limited in its journey towards sustainability, conservation of natural
resources, protection of environment and contribution to society
With the award of FSC® Chain of Custody certification, The
Andhra Paper has established itself as one of the companies in the world supporting responsible forestry practices and highest
social and environmental values.
What is FSC®?
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Certification is a voluntary, market-based tool that
supports responsible forest management worldwide. FSC® certified forest products are
verified from the forest of origin through the supply chain. The FSC® label ensures that the
forest products used are from responsibly harvested and verified sources.
Chain-of-Custody certification guarantees that wood is coming from known legal sources or responsibly managed
forests. FSC® chain of custody allows credible tracking of FSC® material from the fiber
source, through all successive stages of the production process, to committed retailers and consumers. The certificate is
awarded after stringent audit that establishes that fiber sourcing is done from known and legal sources and in
accordance with standards that promote environmentally appropriate forest management.
The FSC® label provides a credible link between responsible
production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that
benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value.
Andhra Paper has successfully gone through their audits in yearly basis. From
2012 onwards the Kadiam unit had also got FSC®-COC certificate. To move further in the same
line of responsible forestry/Sustainable forest resources management, Andhra Paper has started its process for
FSC®-FM (Forest Stewardship Council-Forest Management Certification). We have 29,595 ha. area
covered under FSC®-FM Certification scope for all the three species e.g. Casuarina, Eucalyptus and
Andhra Paper Limited have three FSC Certificates as
||Andhra Paper Limited, Unit: Rajahmundry
||Andhra Paper Limited, Unit: Kadiyam

Zero Energy Poly house for cloning
Clonal forestry requires mist chambers, growth chambers and poly house supplied with high energy or power
resources for vegetative propagation to control the moisture and temperature.
Andhra Paper has adopted an innovative method of tree cloning through
simple poly house that can be established without energy or power supply at even remote places. These are called
zero energy poly houses made at a very low cost using polythen sheets and local supporting structure. The mist in these
chambers is produced by water vapour from the channels made and filled with water at the peripheral region of the
poly house. Water channels produce vapour by evaporation using heat from the sun light during the day. This creates
relative humidity required for rooting of plants inside the structure. This process creates adequate temperature and
relative humidity without using any energy resources to produce best clones.
